Fashion is long overdue its #MeToo moment. Ever since the film mogul Harvey Weinstein became the subject of widespread allegations and criminal proceedings, rumours have swirled around key figures in the industry.

However, the brief tremor that ran through fashion did not result in an earthquake of the magnitude that shook Tinseltown. Industry insiders and ex-models explain that abuse is entrenched and that those still working dare not speak out.

Dozens of anonymised stories of sexual assault in the fashion world unfolded on the model Cameron Russell’s Instagram account under the hashtag #MyJob-ShouldNotIncludeAbuse. Cameron, who has modelled for Prada and Chanel, said: “We are not talking about one, five, or even 20 men. We are talking about a culture of exploitation and it must stop.”
