Priti Patel will tell the Conservative party conference this weekend that the asylum system is broken as official figures suggest that just one in 70 cross-channel migrants has been deported.
The Home Office disclosed that only 76 migrants have been deported from the UK since April. Over the same period 5,330 have made the crossing.
